A2K Technologies’ Design Content and Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) to Work Together to Support Singapore’s BIM Needs

A2K Technologies and the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) have entered a cooperative arrangement whereby A2K Technologies will supply its Singapore-based BIM object libraries to become available in SIAiDOL.

A2K Technologies’ BIM object library group, known as Design Content, is working with local Singapore-based manufacturers to help make their building products available to the Singapore BIM community in Autodesk Revit format.   SIACAD creates SIAiDOL, which is used as a central library for BIM objects to make it easier for designers to add BIM objects to their projects.  The two groups will work together to ensure that the objects are designed to suit Singapore’s BIM needs.

Theodore EC Chan, President, SIA said, “We all know that architectural design manpower cannot be automated. But rather than suffer silently the manpower crunch brought about by policy, SIA has embarked on this initiative that will streamline the architect’s design process and thus mitigate the effects of the manpower shortfall…we help ourselves.”

“We are excited to support SIA in its endeavour to advance the Singapore BIM initiative. Making manufacturers’ building products available for use in BIM projects will help Architect, Engineers, Construction companies and Facilities Managers towards achieving these goals,” said Shane Morris, Director and Chief Technical Officer, A2K Technologies.

Ben Thum, SIACAD said, “At SIACAD, we focus on developing easy-to-use cost-effective solutions for our SIA Members. With SIAiDOL, we are confident that we have the ideal cloud-based platform to deliver BIM objects right into your projects. Over the past few months, we have been busy creating information-rich, localised generic design object libraries for the industry. This collaboration with A2K Technologies comes at the right moment, as it opens up a big area – manufacturers’ design object libraries.  We look forward to working closely with A2K Technologies to localise these libraries so that our users can be more productive in BIM.”
